It was beneath the tree canopy, deep in the forest at the Secret Garden Party in Cambridgeshire, that the Lost Woods stage was born. For seven years Mojo Filter carefully programmed the most highly-tuned, frequency-raising live acts and DJs, including Zero 7, Olaf Stuut, Richie Hawtin, Max Cooper, James Lavelle, Adam Freeland, Maribou State, Super Flu, Monkey Safari, The Orb and Stimming.

The Lost Woods provided a mystic experience for party goers, and was often the most talked about stage on site. Here revellers were transported into a wild and vivid dreamworld with lighting spectacles, aerialists, dancers, theatrics and carnival antics to the soundtrack of deep psychedelic organica.

This year Mojo Filter is honoured to be programming a stage at Blisscamp 2018, a new event presented by the Blissfields music festival in Winchester.

Mojo Filter is a new breed of wedding DJ who, while not shy about playing the ‘classics’, can spin his very own brand of edits and remixes into a heady tapestry with popular favourites, creating a unique wedding dance that no one has danced before. This is the alchemy of his artform: to be present and receptive enough to read the room, selecting the perfect track to suit the perfect moment.

Being the first DJ ever to play at Buckingham Palace set the precedent for a new breed of DJ amongst the upper echelons of the events industry.

From award ceremonies to gala balls, illustrious openings to office parties, Mojo Filter’s eclectic music collection and understanding of the unique structure and protocol of corporate events has seen him DJ at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues, including The Royal Academy of Arts, the National Portrait Gallery, the V&A and the Natural History Museum.

He is now an official supplier to the royal palaces, including Kensington Palace and Hampton Court Palace.

Whether playing loungey background music or to a packed dancefloor, Mojo Filter can tailor his DJ service to suit the unique requirements of each client.

“I’m a read-the-room kind of guy and love to feel the vibe and take elements of what’s going-on energy-wise and build on that. I play loads of weird and wonderful locations with strange and exotic people.”

As a curator of The Lost Woods stage – a hidden, alternate reality deep in the woods – Mojo Filter was a key designer. His role was that of stage manager, set designer, artist liaison and music programmer all in one. A curator of underground dance music, performers, artists and decoration, all designed to complement the enchanted forest setting.

Rainbow Serpent – whose name derives from the Aboriginal Dreamtime creation stories – is a four-day annual open-air electronic music, art, and lifestyle festival that brings together visionary creators to share their art with a global community.

Mojo Filter had the amazing opportunity to DJ on Rainbow Serpent’s beautiful sunset stage, followed by several club sets in Melbourne, including The Lake People Gathering 2018 with Adam Freeland and Uone.

The tour was an immeasurable success, and future plans to tour Down Under are already in motion!

As a result, the Mojo Filter AOR Disco Vintage Edits compilations on Bandcamp have escalated far beyond the cottage industry project initially intended, and recently earned themselves a further 7-inch sub-series on Dom Servini’s Wah Wah 45s – the UK record label specialising in highest quality soul, vinyl and live music.

From the defining moments of Jefferson Airplane’s White Rabbit, to Brian Eno, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and Johnny Cash, these edits have captured the original vibe of their creators while giving them a unique and heady dancefloor appeal.

More recently as a firm homage to artists of the present era, Mojo Filter’s Modern Re-Loves compilations boast the same unmistakable character of his vintage edits, offering sprightly reworks of timeless classics from Lana Del Ray, Fatima Yahama, Foals, Caribou and many more.

Producer Mojo  Filter offers exploratory, dubwise excursions, tropical deep-dives, fairytale orchestral re-imaginations, re-spiritualised festival grooves, complex ecstasies and bone-crunching bangers on four enticingly framed Blyton-esque trips.

It opens with the tickling percussion, heady pads and cuddling bass lines of the single’s radio edit, followed by the acutely revered Mushrooms Project, whose version has gracefully submerged L.O.V.E. into a psychedelic wonderland of liquid bongos, otherworldly chants, and a curious medieval synth line to transport the listener to another world.

Hugely talented electronic producer Tythe conjures a distinctly nomadic journey of warm hides and makeshift camps with his wild rendition of Boom Boom, evoking wonder and intrigue.

Maverick Dutch producer Olaf Stuut eeks out a decidedly more ‘cave rave’ approach to Boom Boom, with crumbling percussive stalactites and eerie reflective melodies advancing the journey underground into the depths of earthy techno. His intricate productions and confounding use of dynamics and harmonics put his work in another dimension, and his rework of Boom Boom is an emotive and veering journey of pulsating, low-slung bass and dizzying pads that draw the listener into his world beyond worlds.

Lo-fi groove agent LeRoy has turned the bad trip that is Acid Land into a veritable feast of positive psychedelic brain food with an acoustic sampling that is charming and hypnotic. The magic of this rework lies in its simplicity as it rolls and rides a sweeping rainbow synth that delivers pure sonic gold.

To close the EP, stalwart and mega-mind DKS offers a quintessential remix of Acid Land, nodding to the original but taking a whole new trip with its driving groove and full-bodied pads.
